Making a Statement!

February 4, 2010

A central part of the B. Jones Style philosophy is the statement piece. Statement pieces are that bit of your outfit that has the “wow-factor”, the thing that people “oooh” and “ahhh” about, and the thing that sets you apart.

The statement piece can take many forms, anywhere from a pair of shoes to a distinct dress. You can take the “more is more” route or limit yourself to “less is more”, choosing to pile on the statement or keep it simple with one big statement.

Statement pieces are like an art collection. They take time to find and sometimes you have to travel across the globe to find them. You may find them in an antique store in the country or your grandma’s attic. They are rare and should be kept through your lifetime. That is the great thing with statement pieces, they are timeless and can be used from age to age.

So consider your own collection, maybe an old necklace that has been sitting in your drawer should be pulled out and paired with a button-down blouse, blazer and flared jeans – or take a chance and pin your hair on top of your head to give that dress you wear all the time a little twist.
